Sumatra Coffee

Tree to Cup
Our Sumatra millhouse produces coffee from the Aceh Gayo highlands, all the way to the Lake Toba regions.
Our Gayo coffee can be traced back to the Jaluk plantation area in the Central Aceh regency. Using the best coffee varieties: Ateng Super and Bourbon, a cup of Jaluk's genuine coffee offers perfectly combined body, taste and aroma.
We blend this excellent coffee with the beans from the Lintong Nihuta region to yield the famous Sumatra Mandheling coffee. Mandheling coffees pretty consistently feature notes of chocolate, cedar, sweet tobacco, and pice notes, along with a mild or winey acidity and creamy body.
Our Processes

Fermentation
On the day the coffee is harvested, the pulp is removed, and the coffee is moved to fermentation tanks. The coffee is then cleaned and classified by traditional washing and density sorting practices. As a result, only the best beans are chosen to go through the drying process.

Preparatory Process
Coffee must be handled professionally throughout the whole process to ensure best-cup quality. During the harvest season, November through April, as they reach their optimal growth matured coffee cherries are harvested by hand.

Pre-Drying Process
The drying is done on our patios, completely exposing the bean to the sun. The coffee beans are constantly turned with wooden paddles to ensure uniform drying.
Gravity & Screen Grader
After the hulling process we use gravity separator to remove low-density defects including immature, withered, insect-damaged beans. We also use screen grader to select bean sizes according to our client's requirements.

Our color sorter is very sensitive. The system spots defects like mold, insect damage, broken pieces, foreign objects, or uneven roasts.
Color Sorting
Our company has qualified and trained staff, including Q-grade coffee tasters. All controls and checkpoints, purity, classifications and constant quality control performed by the working staff, are what allows us to adjust preparation to what our clients need. The coffee is always tested to verify and confirm product aroma, taste, and excellence.

Exportation
After passing quality checkpoints, the green coffee is packed in jute bag, ready to be loaded in the shipping containers. Through client requests we can provide additional services, such as GrainPro bags, as well as quality and weight certificates.
